I chose to include this board due to the vivid memories of some 'Unacceptable' Doctors/Psychiatrists and the few choice doctors that I will always cherish in my heart. In my experience with finding the right doctor, I have come across a couple that were (in my opinion) completely unprofessional and others that were overly professional (sorry, wearing $300 shoes and residing in a high rent building does nothing for me if you can't relate to my child or show a bit of compassion). We were blessed enough to have found a doctor that our daughter felt comfortable enough to confide in. She was also very good at taking my calls and responding to my emails in a kind and timely manner. She was logical in her approach to the recommended medicines -- yet completely understanding if I was not comfortable with giving the medication. If I read an article and wanted to try a new treatment or medicine, she shared her knowledge or did research on it.
What do you look for? The Patient-Parent/Doctor Relationship is extremely important. Your journey with your TS child is like climbing a relatively big mountain. Who will you choose to guide your child and your family through this challenging course?
