What do you do if you find yourself and your tourette child in the middle of a party and she begins a 'spitting and kicking tic'? Let's just say it was not a pleasant experience. Thankfully, that tic only lasted about 10 days. Thankfully, I still have a few friends left as well.
It's important to prepare your friends, community sports, religious or other activity coordinators with some education on Tourette Syndrome and other conditions your child is experiencing. It's not always easy. It's many times a juggling act. Ideally, It would have been nice for my child to have friends with similar disorders. Although I did not have that luxury at the time, I believe we have all the communication tools we need to get that together here.
