This board is very important to me. Bearing the weight of this syndrome as a parent, can be incredibly trying. In my experience I often felt just as alone and misunderstood as my child did with her tourettes. The cold, hard facts are this: There will always be people who judge and misunderstand what you and your family are going through. I have had many moments crying into my pillow or just wishing I could crawl under something and never come out. You carry the world on your shoulders, and for all your exertion and effort the reward is nothing more than a pile of heavy advice from those completely ignorant of the circumstances.
Here is my tender, heartfelt and somewhat surprising advice: Forgive. Forgive often. Forgive easily. Understand that others don't understand. The load you carry is enough, you don't need the extra burdens of resentment and anger. You have a great work to do - and it is you who were chosen to do it for this child. Carry on. Carry on. Forgive and move forward. These are the moments that will define who you are.
Having a hard day? Go ahead and let it out here. xo
